After Holocaust kerfuffle, AOC turns down invite to tour Auschwitz

This comes after she was labeled a Holocaust denier by a prominent Jewish lawyer and academic.

In this new, fast-paced society that we live in, folks seems to be aiming to get their most offensive and dire soundbites out into the world as quickly as they possibly can.  With politicians, it’s even worse.

As a politician, at least in this age of millionaire “public servants”, your entire life becomes a popularity contest.  Your “public relations” team will work tirelessly, scouring data either stolen or bought from social media, looking for new avenues for you to connect with potential voters.  In this regard, the candidates that we see emerging from the woodwork during election years all seem to take on some archetypal persona in order to resonate with viewers and voters in ways that they are familiar with.

These Congressional chameleons come in all shapes, sizes, and personalities, and they are all vying to win over you and your vote.

In the case of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the character she’s playing is that of the young, brash, and angry “broke” millennial, who saw the election of Donald Trump as a threat to progressive politics.  Assuming that role has led AOC down a path of partisan bickering that was predisposed to sensationalism by the freshman Congresswoman’s own archetypal niche.

This means that AOC will likely continue to keep sticking her foot in her mouth in order to maintain this reputation of repudiation and “resistance”, no matter how offensive it is.

Hence, her comments in recent days that the migrant detention centers here in America are nothing more than “concentration camps” – a claim that has been rebuked with gusto by just about everyone outside of her freshmen congressional circle.

Now, in an effort to educate the young lawmaker on the horrors of concentration camps, an offer was extended to have AOC visit Auschwitz – possibly the most notorious of the Nazi death camps.

Spoiler alert:  She’s not going.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) refused Sunday to visit the Auschwitz concentration camp, after a Jewish group had invited her to tour that camp and others this summer to educate herself about the facts of the Holocaust.

Last Monday evening, Ocasio-Cortez compared detention facilities for illegal aliens caught crossing the U.S.-Mexico border to “concentration camps,” adding the phrase “never again,” which commonly refers to the Nazi Holocaust.

The constant comparisons of Donald Trump and his administration to Nazis, as well as this latest democratic drivel regarding “concentration camps”, has offended a great many in the Jewish community – including Alan Dershowitz, who believes that AOC’s inability to understand the difference between migrant detention centers and places such as Auschwitz makes the Congresswoman a “holocaust denier”.
