This is not the America that we were promised as youngsters. There is little to no pursuit of happiness to be had at this moment. We are smack dab in the middle of a maelstrom of anarchy and hatred and media-induced violence that has parts of our great nation looking like a third-world, war-torn hellscape.
Kenosha, Wisconsin is the latest city to erupt into violence, this time after an unarmed black man was shot by police during an altercation. Video of the scene was both terrifying and heart wrenching to watch, and its release on social media has sparked several nights of chaos in the usually sleepy, midsized midwestern city.
On Tuesday night, Kenosha experienced its Charlottesville moment, as a young man armed with a long gun opened fire on protesters who were chasing him.
Police said they responded to reports of shots fired on 63rd Street and Sheridan Road and discovered multiple victims. Besides the two deaths, a third gunshot victim was transported to the hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, according to authorities.
The names of the victims have not been released at this time as the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Twitter users were convinced that they had identified the suspect in the slayings after he was caught on video stating “I just killed somebody”. No arrest has been made at this time.
