The Democratic Party is tearing itself to shreds in 2019, as the progressive youth of the left continue to push back against the old-guard, moderate ideals of the centrist sect.
And it isn’t just about age, either. With South Bend, Indiana Mayor and 2020 hopeful Pete Buttigieg, these moderate beliefs have arrived in a 37 year-old package that currently sits atop the polls in the all-important state of Iowa.
The rise of Mayor Pete is certainly something to behold, but not everyone on the left is thrilled about it, including freshman Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Ocasio-Cortez highlighted a new campaign ad from Mayor Pete Buttigieg criticizing Democrats like Sen. Bernie Sanders and Sen. Elizabeth Warren for proposing the idea of free college tuition, arguing that the wealthy did not need their college tuition to be subsidized by taxpayers.take our poll - story continues below
“This is a GOP talking point used to dismantle public systems, & it’s sad to see a Dem candidate adopt it,” she wrote on Twitter.

AOC has become the face of the radical left as of late, and has seemingly been steering the entire Democratic Party from her progressive perch – a reality that has drawn criticism of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s leadership as of late.
