Well, folks: We made it. We are now one day away from the big day.
On Tuesday, November 3rd, 2020, the American people will be choosing our Commander in Chief for the next four years, at the conclusion of a contest that has threatened both our psyche and our souls. We are weary and jaded, and some of us are about to feel jilted.
And it’s not just We The People who are growing incensed and agitated. Our elected officials are also bristling at one another, with their fervor growing in direction correlation to our proximity to Tuesday.
The latest from Freshman House Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez belies the increasingly crass nature of the discourse in DC.
Democratic congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has described drivers who supported Donald Trump and blocked a road as “a pileup of chumps”.
She wrote on Twitter on Sunday as a pro-Trump caravan blocked traffic on New York City’s Whitestone Bridge, which connects the boroughs of Queens and the Bronx, that those involved were “chumps”.
Ms Ocasio-Cortez, whose district includes parts of both boroughs, said she “took the Throggs Neck [bridge]” because she had “heard there was a pileup of chumps on the Whitestone [bridge]”.
She responded to another Twitter user who shared a video from Whitestone Bridge and wrote: “I hope AOC isn’t using the Whitestone Bridge today there is a lot of traffic!”
The user, whose name appeared as Midnight Rider Chump for Trump!, appeared to be a pro-Trump account.
Ocasio-Cortez has been ferociously opposed to any and all decisions made by President Donald Trump, garnering a reputation as a “resistance” stalwart.
