As Americans Wait on Stimulus Checks, White House Wants to Mail Them Masks

We can’t think of too many landlords who accept masks as money.

When it comes to political ineptitude, there are few more infuriating modern examples than the case we are currently in, in regard to the lack of financial relief that the US government has provided its people during this COVID-19 pandemic.

In nations around the world, citizens have been guaranteed monthly stimulus to account for the loss of work, and, for those still employed, to spend in a way that could keep our economy stimulated.

In the US, we’ve gotten $1,800 and a fragile eviction moratorium.

Now, as Congress continues to bicker about when, (or if), more help is coming, the Biden administration is considering sending out face masks.

President Joe Biden’s coronavirus response team is considering mailing millions of masks to Americans to encourage mask-wearing as the coronavirus pandemic continues.

A White House official told NBC News Biden’s coronavirus response team is evaluating the idea but no decision has been made or proposed to the president.

Biden and top health officials such as Dr. Anthony Fauci remain vexed that Americans are not universally wearing masks.

“Right now, we don’t have complete, full compliance throughout the country of the fundamental public health measures that are necessary to prevent the spread,” Fauci said during a virtual press conference Wednesday.

Biden repeatedly reminds Americans that it is a “patriotic duty” to wear a mask and scolds Republicans for defying his call for all Americans to “mask up” for at least 100 days.

Biden stopped short of enacting a widespread public mask mandate, however, opting instead to require that domestic travelers cover their faces, but not the general population.
