As Trump and Pelosi argue over health, Jerry Nadler has public fainting spell

The timing was ominous.

Sometimes the truth is stranger than fiction.

Sure, it may be cliche to say so, but in the case of Washington DC’s recent turmoil it may be nice to fall back on some normalcy now and again.

This week has been a tough one for America, as President Donald Trump and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi have a very public battle over each other’s mental state.  Pelosi, who has refused to move forward on impeachment of the President, has exploited the newfound focus on her to insult Donald Trump.  During a press conference on Thursday, Pelosi even went so far as to call for an “intervention” by Trump’s friends and family.

Trump and his lawyer Rudy Giuliani were then embroiled in a social media scandal after the President shared a doctored video of Madame Speaker that was edited to make Pelosi’s speech slurred.

As these two political heavyweights duked it out over each other’s health, Jerry Nadler had a frightening fainting spell in public.

House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler, a high-profile Democrat, appeared to nearly faint during a news conference Friday, halting the event as New York Mayor Bill de Blasio offered him assistance.

In the brief episode, Nadler is seen on video appearing disoriented and slow to respond as de Blasio offers him water. Nadler was immediately assisted by medical staff who were at the event, and Nadler responded to them.

Nadler aide Daniel Schwartz told CNN that the congressman “is OK” and that he “seems to have been dehydrated and it was very warm in the room. He is now responsive and receiving a check-up.”

Spooky timing aside, we can only wish Congressmen Nadler a speedy recovery.

The specter of health in politics was raised to a high profile during the 2016 election after then-candidate Hillary Clinton was seen fainting in public after a September 11th memorial service.
