Coronavirus Crisis Prompts Trump to Offer Help to China, Issue Travel Restrictions

Is there any end in sight to this outbreak?

Around the globe, fears of a pandemic are rising as a deadly new strain of Coronavirus continues to spread.

This version of the already dangerous virus begins benignly, with a simple respiratory sickness not unlike a bad case of bronchitis.  Soon, patients will find themselves with a fever and flu-like symptoms.  Then, in its most advanced stages, this version of the Coronavirus begins to resemble some of the more potent types of pneumonia, similarly preying on the weaker and more illness-prone among society.

The epicenter of this outbreak appears to be Wuhan, China, where authorities believe that the virus possibly spread from snakes to humans at a wildlife market.

Given just how dangerous this virus has been, President Trump is offering America’s help to the Chinese government.

“We are in very close communication with China concerning the virus,” tweeted Trump, who waged a bruising 18-month trade war with Beijing until a recent truce.

“We have offered China and President Xi (Jinping) any help that is necessary. Our experts are extraordinary!”

With the death toll having reached over 80 people, and with thousands more possibly infected, the United States is now issuing a warning to all Americans who may travel to the Far East.

The U.S. State Department on Monday warned against visiting China and said Americans should not travel to the Hubei province, given that the province’s city of Wuhan is ground zero for a new deadly coronavirus.

The State Department has already ordered the departure of all non-emergency U.S. personnel and family members from the province and the “U.S. government has limited ability to provide emergency services” to its citizens there.

There have already been at least 5 cases of Coronavirus identified within the United States.  As of this writing, none of the cases within America have led to a fatality.
