Democratic Rep. Preemptively Blasts Senate Trial Outcome Should Trump Skate

This is just SAD.

Democrat have long known what the result of their impeachment fiasco would be:  An acquittal of Donald J. Trump in the Senate.

This has been known from the start, and no one has tried in the least to obscure this foregone conclusion.  Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and prominent members of the GOP such as Lindsey Graham have gone on television time and again to reiterate this reality.

Trump is going to skate.  It is inevitable.  It always has been.  That’s why Democrats are now attempting to smear these long-awaited results before they even arrive.

Democratic Rep. Zoe Lofgren took this route during an appearance on CNN Tuesday afternoon:

“I like to think that people are searching their consciences,” Lofgren told host John Berman. “I expect the vote to impeach tomorrow, given the number of congressmen and women who have made announcements over the weekend. I can’t believe what I’m seeing in the Senate. It’s a trial and you’re supposed to hear evidence and then take an oath to do a just verdict.”

She continued, “It looks like Senator [Mitch] McConnell is rigging this trial. If I were the president, I’d be concerned. He wants to be exonerated. He’s not going to be exonerated if the trial is rigged. Everyone will know that he’s guilty but got off through chicanery.”

This is the ultimate version of moving the goalposts:  Simply stating that the results will not be valid if your “team” doesn’t come out with the W.

While this isn’t all that surprising a tactic to see at this late stage, it is certainly disheartening to know that our elected officials are stooping to such stunts.
