Donald Trump Jr. Threatened with Assault by Democratic Lawmaker

Given the nature of our national narrative, this was an incredibly irresponsible remark.

The political vitriol within the United States is reaching a fever pitch just as fears of a coronavirus pandemic begin to peak.

The COVID-19 novel strain of coronavirus has been streaking across Asia of late, infection tens of thousands and killing more than 2,800 at last count.  And those numbers may very well be low, given China’s record on reporting any information that doesn’t fit their authoritarian narrative.

But in America, the virus is only now starting to enter the public space with California authorities monitoring about 8,400 folks who may or may not have come into contact with a carrier.

Somehow, the successful staving off of the virus has some Democratic lawmakers concerned, and one took to threatening the President’s son over it.

Rep. John Garamendi (D-CA) threatened Donald Trump Jr. on MSNBC, Friday, after Trump Jr. insinuated Democrats want people to get sick from the coronavirus.

As Garamendi spoke about the latest Californian to test positive for the coronavirus, MSNBC’s Hallie Jackson said, “I think it’s coming through the screen you’re angry, you’re obviously visibly emotional about this,” before asking the congressman about Trump Jr. saying Democrats are seemingly hoping the coronavirus, “comes here to kill millions of people so it can end the president’s streak of winning.”

“He shouldn’t be near me when he says that,” Garamendi replied. “There would be a serious altercation.”

“That’s just totally outrageous. I can assure you there’s not a Democrat or Republican in Congress that wants anybody to be sick,” he continued, concluding, “Don Jr. better not get any place close to me. It would not be a healthy situation.”

The insinuation is a nasty one, especially as Americans have witnessed an unhealthy increase in political violence over the course of the last few years.
