Dr. Fauci Weighs in on America’s Imminent Reopening with Surprising Encouragement

Now that’s what we like to hear!

For much of this coronavirus crisis, Dr. Anthony Fauci was a pillar of precaution.

As one of the most talented and well-respected epidemiologists in the nation, (nay, the world), Fauci was one of the first experts that the White House tapped for their coronavirus task force.  Of course, this meant that Fauci has been on trial in the court of public opinion for months now, and has even received death threats from a number of our nation’s more hyperbolically-inclined rabble-rousers.

Now, after weeks of urging Americans to be vigilant in the face of this viral threat, the good doctor is lauding the efforts of many to reopen the nation in a prudent manner.

From an appearance on MSNBC this week:

Fauci said, “I don’t want people to think that any of us feel that staying locked down for a prolonged period of time is the way to go.”

He continued that while locking down at the beginning was needed, “now is the time, depending upon where you are and what your situation is — is to begin to seriously [look] at reopening the economy, reopening the country to try and get back to some degree of normal. I’m totally in favor of that, if done in the proper way, in the appropriate setting.”

Dr. Fauci went on to reiterate that the guidelines being implemented by the CDC and other authorities will prevent the further spread of coronavirus and, should we see an uptick in cases as the lockdowns lessen, it would be due to Americans taking risks outside of these suggestions.
