FBI Evidence Shows Dossier Author Was Investigated as Possible Russian Spy

Putin is playing both sides, making this ‘Team R’ versus ‘Team D’ game we’re playing a quite dangerous one.

At times, it can be difficult to keep up with exactly what Vladimir Putin is up to.

The Russian President Dictator is not unlike The Joker of Batman lore – particularly the version portrayed by Heath Ledger in the dark and gritty Christopher Nolan-directed Dark Knight series.  This is a man who believes that chaos is the camouflage he needs to take over the world, and he’s willing to spray any number of storylines out into the ether in order to get his way.

He has already been active in attempting to sway US elections – this much is not disputed – but, for far too long, it has been implied that Putin has only worked to bolster Donald Trump.

This is not the case, however.  Putin wants mayhem, and his digital soldiers are playing both sides of the fence in order to foment anger and resentment among Americans.

His stirring of the pot is so prevalent, in fact, that the author of the Steele Dossier has been investigated by the FBI as a possible Russian spy.

The FBI’s Crossfire Hurricane team investigating the Trump 2016 campaign received multiple indications that former British spy Christopher Steele — one of their key informants in their investigation — was part of an elaborate “Russian disinformation campaign,” according to several newly declassified footnotes from Department of Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz’s report on FBI misconduct.

The FBI heavily relied on Steele’s now-discredited dossier to obtain a surveillance warrant to spy on former Donald Trump aide Carter Page, in which FBI officials asserted that Page was an “agent” of Russia. However, the FBI did not share the information about the Russian disinformation campaign with the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC) when it moved to obtain the warrant, just as it did not tell the court that another Trump aide had denied collusion during a recorded conversation with an FBI informant.

In matter relating to Russia, it is more important now than ever that we toss aside our Republican versus Democrat nonsense and deal with this foreign threat…because we knew darn well that Putin is playing both sides.
