Gender Reveal Party Blamed for Latest California Wildfire

That’s definitely not what we expected.

The state of California is ablaze, and with no end in sight.

The scenes from the Golden State have been apocalyptic to say the least.  Enormous and fast-moving wildfires have engulfed literally millions of acres of California, and well ahead of what would be the “normal” fire season out west.  This has prompted officials to caution Americans to take extra precautions with their energy usage, their camp fires, and other potentially hazardous incendiaries.

And yes, that includes whatever it is that you’re using at your gender reveal party.

As multiple wildfires burn in California, one of the fires was started during a gender-reveal party, officials said.

A “smoke generating pyrotechnic device” used at the party caused the El Dorado Fire in San Bernardino County, Cal Fire said in a press release.

The fire started Saturday at 10:23 a.m. at the El Dorado Ranch Park in Yucaipa and spread from the park north on to Yucaipa Ridge, according to the release.

It has since grown to 7,050 acres as of early Monday morning, the Cal Fire incident website shows.

No charges have yet been filed in the blaze.

Weather reports for the affected area remain ominous, with low humidity and steady winds that could fuel this accidental arson for days and nights to come.
