Something peculiar has been happening over the last few days, and a great many Democrats are beginning to grow wary of their party’s ability to stave off disaster.
The general election of 2016 was a veritable catastrophe for the Democratic Party. Not only did their candidate lose in embarrassing fashion, having not even written a concession speech for the occasion, but it was discovered that the DNC and the Hillary Clinton campaign were colluding with one another to subvert the will of the party’s constituents. The rigged primary was all for naught, making the entire affair completely cringeworthy.
Today, as the Democrats continue to flail through the 2020 primary process, President Trump jokingly tweeted that Hillary Clinton should jump into the fray and “steal” the nomination from Senator Liz Warren.
Hillary has now responded, and the Democrats’ ears are perking up at what was said.
Don’t tempt me. Do your job.
— Hillary Clinton (@HillaryClinton) October 8, 2019
Bringing Clinton back into the mix seems like an avoidable crisis for the Democratic Party, should they reign in these wild ideas now. The only issue is that the DNC seems to have no power over the Clinton political machine.
Of course, this tweet by Clinton is likely being used to gauge interest in a possible run, allowing Twitter users to give her realtime feedback on the idea before she makes any hard decisions.
