Hillary Spokesman Now Claims The ‘Republicans’, Not the ‘Russians’, Are Grooming Tulsi Gabbard as 2020 Spoiler

Hillary Clinton seems to have a habit of blaming the Russians for her troubles.

Hillary Clinton’s recent reemergence in the political realm of American pop culture must be frustrating for the Democrats.

It wasn’t all that long ago that the progressive party’s supporters finally breathed a sigh of relief, believing that they had seen the last of Clinton’s national antics after her harrowing and embarrassing defeat at the hands of Donald Trump.  The left hoped, and maybe even prayed, that the former Secretary of State would simply sequester herself the West Wing of her Chappaqua, New York mansion.

Instead, the Democrats are now facing a humiliating possibility:  Hillary Clinton could very well run for President again in 2020, as her recent uptick in public appearances and vitriolic social media content seems to indicate.

One of the more ludicrous claims coming out of Camp Clinton in recent days has been that 2020 candidate and Hawaii House Rep. Tusli Gabbard is being “groomed” by the Russians to run as a third party and spoil the Democrats’ chances next November.

Now, a spokesman for the possible late-entering candidate is looking to clear all that up.  It wasn’t the Russians at all…it was the Republicans.

Hillary Clinton spokesman Nick Merrill claimed on Tuesday that the New York Times wrongly claimed Clinton said the Russians were grooming Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) as a third-party candidate, asserting that the failed presidential candidate was referring to Republicans.

“On Friday, the NYT did a piece about a podcast Secretary Clinton did with David Plouffe. They incorrectly quoted her saying that the ‘Russians’ were ‘grooming’ a candidate running in the Democratic primary,” Merrill wrote.

“They rightfully fixed it to reflect that she was taking [sic] about the GOP,” he added alongside a screenshot of the correction.

Not everyone is buying it, however.

Merrill’s attempt to soften Clinton’s position did not alter the failed Trump challenger’s sentiment. While Clinton did not explicitly state that the “Russians” are grooming Gabbard, she openly expressed her belief that Gabbard is a “favorite of the Russians” and implied during the interview that she is a “Russian asset.”

“She is a favorite of the Russians. They have a bunch of sites and bots and other ways of supporting her so far. That’s assuming Jill Stein will give it up, which she might not because she is also a Russian asset,” Clinton stated.

Hillary Clinton seems to have a habit of blaming the Russians for her troubles.  In 2016’s presidential race, Clinton was one of the first to insinuate that Donald Trump may have been compromised by the Kremlin – a wild conspiracy theory that was put to rest by the exhaustive and lengthy Mueller Report.
