James Comey Suggests Biden Should Pardon Donald Trump

This is not what we expected to hear from the disgraced FBI chief.

Talk about a sentence that we never in a million years thought that we’d see:  James Comey thinks Joe Biden should pardon Donald Trump.

Yep.  That’s right.  The disgraced former FBI chief who refused to prosecute Hillary Clinton for her secret email server, and who isn’t that far removed from the legal orbit of RussiaGate, wants Joe Biden to show a little mercy to Donald Trump once he leaves office.

Comey started with a dig, however.

“I obviously think he belongs in jail, but I don’t think pursuing that is in the best interests of the entire nation, so I think the wiser decision would be not to pursue him,” Comey said during his appearance, emphasizing that Biden should explain his decision — whatever it is — to the American people.

“Be transparent about why you’re doing what you’re doing,” he said.

But when asked directly about the pardon…

“Now I don’t know whether Donald Trump, he’s not a genius, but he might figure out that [if] he accepts a pardon, that’s an omission of guilt, the United States Supreme Court has said,” he continued, adding that he does not know if Trump would accept a pardon.

“But as part of healing the country and getting us to a place where we can focus on things that are going to matter over the next four years, I think Joe Biden is going to have to at least think about that,”[…]

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has yet to transmit the article of impeachment to the Senate, leaving Washington to wonder just when a potential impeachment trial could begin.
