In the deep, dark corners of the internet, a number of conspiracy theories are continuing to float around regarding the death of Jeffrey Epstein and his network of child sex traffickers.
For many, the idea that Epstein took his own life in a well-monitored cell in one of the nation’s most secure detention facilities seems highly improbable. Add to that the realization that the guards assigned to his wing of the prison were found to have slept through parts of their shift while forging their paperwork, and the fact that the cameras outside of Epstein’s cell were malfunctioning on the night of his death, and we find that there are plenty of reason to be suspicious of the official story.
Others following the Epstein saga have routinely pointed out that the previously convicted pedophile’s right-hand-woman Ghislaine Maxwell still walks free, even flaunting her liberty in a bizarre photoshoot at a popular California burger joint in the days following the aforementioned suicide.
Her freedom may not be long-lived, however.
The FBI is investigating Ghislaine Maxwell, the British socialite who allegedly operated as Jeffrey Epstein’s fixer in procuring underage girls for sexual predation, according to Reuters.
The news outlet, citing law enforcement sources with knowledge of the probe, reports the “principal focus” of the investigation is Maxwell, while “people who facilitated” the deceased pedophiles alleged illegal activities are also subjects of the probe.
Thus far, the alleged Epstein “madam” has not been accused of any criminal wrongdoing. It is unclear when the investigation began, though sources told Reuters it is in its early stages.
Maxwell, the daughter of a British publishing magnate who died under mysterious circumstances, is one of the most prominent figures left from the Epstein orbit after his suicide in jail while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.
The charges in Maxwell’s case could be fairly serious.
“If I were drafting an indictment against her, it would be the same conspiracy to traffic in underage minors,” said David S. Weinstein, a former federal prosecutor now in private practice in Miami. “That’s what it is. That’s what the conspiracy would be.”
Maxwell appeared to run in the same high-profile circles as Epstein, and was even photographed attending the wedding of former First Daughter Chelsea Clinton.
