The 2020 election may very well go down in history as one of the most hard-fought and bitter political contests of the modern era, and it looks as though Joe Biden is ready to escalate the rhetoric once again.
In 2016, the big story out of the Democratic Party was this notion that Donald Trump was some sort of Kremlin double agent, working at the behest of Vladimir Putin on account of some extortion scheme they cooked up with Christopher Steele.
Now, as the 2020 election looms, the left is back at it.
Presumptive Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden has warned that Russia is again trying to interfere in the upcoming presidential election.
Mr Biden issued the warning at a fundraiser on Friday evening, when he revealed that he had begun receiving briefings again due to his status as the nominee.
“We know from before and I guarantee you I know now because now I get briefings again. The Russians are still engaged in trying to delegitimize our electoral process. Fact,” the former vice president said.
The original RussiaGate conspiracy theory was exacerbated by the Steel Dossier, compiled by the aforementioned Christopher Steele. The cache of unverified and unverifiable rumors about Donald Trump’s time with Muscovite prostitutes was later linked back to decade-old rumors from the Wall Street Journal.
It appears as though we’ll have to remind everyone of this fact in the coming weeks.
