The latest bit of drama emanating from deep within the bowels of the UkraineGate scandal comes to us, once again, from the orbit of a man named Lev Parnas.
Parnas is a former associate of Rudy Giuliani, personal lawyer to the President, and is currently embroiled in a legal battle due to his alleged improprieties in the realm of foreign affairs. The Democrats believe that Parnas was part and parcel to Rudy’s plan to procure “dirt” on the Biden family through the Ukrainian government, and has been singing to authorities since being indicted.
Now, a newly leaked recording of a dinner that counted both Parnas and President Trump among its attendees is making the rounds, and the subject matter isn’t far from where one would imagine it to be.
A recording reviewed by ABC News appears to capture President Donald Trump telling associates he wanted the then-U.S. ambassador to UkraineMarie Yovanovitch fired while speaking at a small gathering that included Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman — two former business associates of Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani who have since been indicted in New York.
The recording appears to contradict statements by Trump and support the narrative that has been offered by Parnas during broadcast interviews in recent days. Sources familiar with the recording said the recording was made during an intimate April 30, 2018, dinner at the Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C.
“Get rid of her!” is what the voice that appears to be Trump’s is heard saying. “Get her out tomorrow. I don’t care. Get her out tomorrow. Take her out. OK? Do it.”
Yovanovitch was abruptly removed from her post just before the UkraineGate scandal broke, with impeachment proponents insisting that the diplomat’s ouster was all part of a secret plan to extort the new Ukrainian President.
