Longshot Democratic Candidate Calls on Trump Officials to Testify Under Oath, on Television

All eyes are on the Senate this week, and the process for the impeachment trial of Donald Trump is still up in the air.

With our elected officials slowly making their ways back to Washington DC after the long holiday break, all eyes will be focused on the Senate as the impeachment trial of Donald Trump looms on the horizon.

What that trial will look like is anyone’s guess at this point.  House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has yet to even transmit the articles of impeachment to the Senate, believing that this delay will give her some sort of leverage when it comes to the process moving forward.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has long insisted that the impeachment trial of Donald Trump will be swift, uneventful, and vindicating for the Commander in Chief.  President Trump himself, however, has stated that we would like to see a “show” of sorts, brining in witnesses that could further bolster the idea that the Democrats have been simply out to get him.

Now, it appears as though on the low-polling 2020 Democratic candidates agrees with Trump.

The words of Tom Steyer, from a recent CNN appearance:

“What I’m pushing for now is to have every one of those Trump administration officials testify on TV under oath about what happened,” Steyer stated. “What I was asking for was televised interviews of those people so the American people could see without any control from either MSNBC or Fox News of exactly what happened. And this president and his administration have continued to obstruct justice by refusing to actually come in front of the American people and tell the truth. That’s why Speaker Pelosi won’t send the charges to the Senate — because they’ve refused to tell the truth to the American people.”

Steyer is quite a longshot when it comes to the 2020 race, polling at only 1.5% nationally despite utilizing his vast fortune to buy an inordinate amount of television advertising.
