Major Retailer Bans Couple After They Enter Store in Nazi Face Masks

The shameful display ended in trespassing charges.

My, how quickly many of us have forgotten the horrors of World War II and the Nazi death machine in particular.

There was once a time, not long ago, when it was completely ridiculous to think that Nazi symbolism or ideals would ever make it to the mainstream.  This was shunned symbolism, only to be used in the most sober and thoughtful moments, and almost always in conjunction with education on the evils of hatred.

But, likely thanks to the mainstream media’s constant barrage of incendiary rhetoric, the imagery of the Third Reich is finding itself used in all manner of flippant and meaningless ways.

Police say the couple has been issued trespass notices. Officials said they are banned from visiting any Walmart facility for at least a year.

Video posted on social media showed the couple going through a checkout lane on Saturday with the masks that featured the Nazi swastika flag. Onlookers appeared shocked by the masks and demanded the couple to remove them.

This is where it gets utterly ignorant.

The woman seen wearing the mask argued she wasn’t a Nazi and indicated she was wearing the flag as a protest against socialism in America.

Saturday marked the first day of Minnesota’s mask mandate, requiring face coverings be worn in public places. However, Walmart’s mask policy took effect on Monday.

This purposefully offensive coopting of the Nazi swastika, particularly for something as mundane as being asked to keep your own respiratory droplets from spreading around a Walmart store, is perhaps as woeful as it comes.

For shame.
