New Rumors Swirling About Possible Joe Biden Running Mate

There are undoubtedly more rumors still to be had in the days ahead.

Today was a big day for Joe Biden’s candidacy, but it isn’t likely the most important day of his campaign.

Bernie Sanders announced today that he would be dropping out of the 2020 presidential race, all-but-officially anointing former VP Joe Biden as the presumptive nominee for the Democratic Party.  The Vermont Senator was the last foe to be vanquished for Biden, making this a somewhat momentous occasion.

But, as foreshadowed earlier in this article, Biden has another fast approaching moment that will be far more impactful to his odds at making it back to the Oval Office:  When he announces his running mate.

You see, the Bernie Bros are a legitimately large voting bloc within the Democratic Party, and they are not enthused about being asked to vote for Joe Biden.  The only way to keep them in the clique is by throwing them bone with the veep slot.  That’s why, in many ways, Joe Biden’s choice of running mate may be the most interesting thing left in this race.

This week, new rumors were swirling about who might be in the running for the coveted spot.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has made it crystal clear — he’s not interested in running for the White House.

“I’m not running for president. I was never running for president. I said from day one I wasn’t running for president. I’m not running for president now. I’m not playing politics,” Cuomo stressed last week.

That hasn’t stopped the speculation.

The three-term governor of the state hardest hit by the coronavirus pandemic made the comments at one of his coronavirus briefings, which have been televised live on a daily basis on all three major cable news networks the past three weeks, giving Cuomo plenty of national and even international attention. With that exposure has come the chatter about prospects for higher office.

Here’s where it gets wild.

Besides speculation of a last-minute Cuomo White House bid – which may be far-fetched – there’s also some talk of Cuomo being considered to join all-but-certain nominee Joe Biden on the Democratic ticket. The New York Post reported this past weekend that supporters of the governor are regularly talking up Cuomo, touting his leadership skills and appeal to Biden bundlers.

But this would create quite the predicament for Biden, who has already pledged to choose a female running mate.

There are undoubtedly more rumors still to be had in the days ahead.
