NYC Mayor Bluntly States That Trump ‘Ordered The Attack’ on The Capitol

We’ll see if the Senate feels the same.

Former President Donald Trump is once again facing an impeachment trial, becoming the only President to ever have faced the punishment twice, but it certainly appears as though he’s going to skate again.

There seems to be no real possibility that Trump will be convicted, as Senator Lindsey Graham so vociferously pointed out earlier in the week.

But that hasn’t stopped the hyperbole express from pulling into the station this week, as political opponents of Trump’s come out of the woodwork to slam him.

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) concluded on Tuesday that former President Donald Trump “gave the order” to attack the U.S. Capitol on January 6, referencing the cherry-picked montage played by the House impeachment managers on Tuesday on the first day of the Senate impeachment trial.

“‘We will stop the steal.’ ‘We’re gonna walk down to the Capitol.’ ‘We fight like hell. And if you don’t fight like hell, we’re not gonna have a country anymore,’” de Blasio said, quoting Trump and concluding that the former president “gave the order.”

“He unleashed his mob on the U.S. Capitol. Convict him NOW,” the Democrat mayor said[…]

De Blasio had, at one point, toyed with the idea of running for President himself in 2020, but New Yorkers were quick to remind Mr. Mayor that even The Big Apple wasn’t that fond of him.
