Pelosi Drops Enormous Fines on GOP Members Who Defy Capitol Metal Detectors

From the moment that the dust settled on January 6th, the Democrats set out to vilify those within the GOP who weren’t shocked or appalled.

First and foremost were the calls to punish Marjorie Taylor Greene, a GOP freshman who was a major proponent of the Qanon conspiracy theory, and Josh Hawley – a Missouri Senator who flashed a “raised fist” to the crowd as they were preparing to storm the building.

Congressional Democrats feared that far-right members of the House or Senate who continued to side with Donald Trump on the issues surrounding the 2020 election could be a danger to the legislature itself, and soon there were metal detectors installed at the entrance to the Capitol.  Several members of the Republican Party scoffed at the added security measure, however, and now Nancy Pelosi is making their indifference expensive.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has reportedly docked $5,000 each from two Republican congressmen’s pay for allegedly defying her metal detector rule.

“Reps. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) and Andrew Clyde (R-Ga.) are the first to be hit with the dramatic fine, which is taken directly from their $174,000 salaries,” the New York Post reported Friday.

Another offense will cost $10,000 under the policy imposed in January by Pelosi and ratified by the House this week.

House Rep. Lauren Boebert could soon find herself fined as well, after her vehement refusal to pass through the metal detectors saw her targeted on social media weeks ago.
