Pelosi Sides with Biden Despite Increasing Corroboration of Sex Assault Claims

Ignoring or dismissing these claims against Biden will almost certainly backfire for the Democrats in November.

Those who vividly remember the confirmation hearings of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh have been left scratching their heads this week, as prominent members of the Democratic Party simply brush aside the story of Tara Reade.

Reade, who was a staffer for then-Senator Joe Biden back in 1993, has repeatedly told a harrowing story of being sexually assaulted by her employer some 27 years ago.  Furthermore, her neighbor has corroborated the tale, publicly stating that she recalls Reade’s recollection of the event in real time.  This testimonial comes despite Reade’s neighbor admitting to being a lifelong Democrat who felt compelled by a sense of honesty to come forward.

Despite this, Biden has not been subject to even a small percentage of the scrutiny of Kavanaugh, who was similarly accused of misconduct while in college, but with fewer attestations manifesting from either his own circle of friends, or from his accuser’s.

Worse still, a number of prominent Democrats have gone so far as to address the Biden drama, only to affirm their support for the presumptive 2020 nominee.

U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Thursday gave a forceful defense of presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden as some within her party urged him to directly address a woman’s sexual assault accusation against him that his campaign already has denied.

“I have complete respect for the whole #MeToo movement,” Pelosi said at a news conference. “There is also due process and the fact that Joe Biden is Joe Biden.”

“He is the personification of hope and optimism and authenticity for our country – a person of great values,” Pelosi added.

This is precisely the sort of establishment double standard that is driving a glut of liberal youth away from the Democratic Party itself, putting Biden in the precarious position of facing Donald Trump in November with only a fraction of the party’s base behind him.
