PUTIN ARREST WARRANT ISSUED: Russian Leader Targeted By…

And Putin wasn’t the only one.

If we had begun to find that talk of the War in Ukraine was boring us, rest assured those days are over.

After a year of monstrous barbarism and tens of thousands of war crimes, the Russian military machine continues to grind down their opponents in Ukraine.  This includes the rape and murder of women and children in a vast number of locales

The horrors have prompted The Hague to get involved.

The International Criminal Court said Friday it has issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin for war crimes because of his alleged involvement in abductions of children from Ukraine.

The court said in a statement that Putin “is allegedly responsible for the war crime of unlawful deportation of population (children) and that of unlawful transfer of population (children) from occupied areas of Ukraine to the Russian Federation.”

Putin wasn’t alone.

It also issued a warrant Friday for the arrest of Maria Alekseyevna Lvova-Belova, the Commissioner for Children’s Rights in the Office of the President of the Russian Federation, on similar allegations.

Of course, getting to the Kremlin to cooperate with the global community has been a difficult task over the course of, well, the last century.

A possible trial of any Russians at the ICC remains a long way off, as Moscow does not recognize the court’s jurisdiction— a position reaffirmed on Friday by Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova in a first reaction to the warrants.

“The decisions of the International Criminal Court have no meaning for our country, including from a legal point of view,” she said.

This is just one of several escalations in the conflict over the course of the last week, after Russian fighter jets downed an American aircraft over the Black Sea, which in turn prompted Poland to send fighter jets of their own to Ukraine.  They were the first NATO nation to do so.
