For years, perhaps even decades, Matt Groenings’s cartoon sitcom The Simpsons was one of the most watched television shows on the planet.
The comedic writing was, at one point, top notch – capturing the pop culture of America while making subtle jabs at the world at large in the process. Unfortunately, in recent years, the program has fallen from grace, suffering from both a lack of quality and an absurd obsession with political plot lines.
As with much of Hollywood, their aim when wading into the Washington waters seems to be delegitimizing President Donald Trump, with the cartoon repeatedly aligning itself with the “resistance”-minded Americas who may still watch the faltering show.
Their latest dig at The White House not only lambasted the leader of the free world, however, also taking aim at First Lady Melania Trump.
The so-called “Squad” — Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), and Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) — battle President Donald Trump in a Simpsons video clip that saw the left-wing Congresswomen tell the cartoon Trump that his “nose is right up Putin’s ass” and how they can’t wait to see him “behind prison glass.”
“So many problems, tariffs — I need a distraction,” Trump sings at the beginning of the 90-second clip titled “West Side Story.”
“They shouldn’t be in America,” the cartoon President Trump sings while holding up a photo of the Democrat women. “No one but me in America. No taxes for me in America. This is my natural hair-ica.”
This is where things turned testy.
“We’re more American than your wife,” Omar says.
“She’s not a big presence in my life” the cartoon Trump responds while running away from the four women.
While political disagreements are certainly a powerful and necessary piece of the American puzzle, attacks on the family members of politicians have largely been considered uncouth and inexcusable in modern society.
