Folks, this “Trump is Hitler” thing has to stop.
Not only is this comparison a ludicrous stretch of even the most liberal imaginations, it is also extremely, deeply offensive to those whose families were irrevocably damaged by The Holocaust, the Third Reich, and the continued applications of Nazi ideologies we see today. The actions taken by Germany during World War II must remain outside the vocabulary of the modern political era, if we are to protect ourselves from becoming desensitized to them.
The more we dull the memory of The Holocaust with our comparisons to anything we’ve experienced, the less gravity those grave events will have on our future.
Hollywood, for whatever reason, just doesn’t seem to understand this.
ALEC Baldwin has shockingly called for Donald Trump to be buried in a “Nazi graveyard with a swastika on his grave.”
“Bury Trump in a Nazi graveyard and put a swastika on his grave,” Baldwin wrote.
“The majority of Americans made the right choice. Trump is a maniac.”
Some social media users agreed with Baldwin’s comments, while some provided concerning suggestions on how to “bury” the president.
However, one person questioned Baldwin’s attitude, asking: “Spewing more hate and creating a bigger divide? Is that unity?”
By continually shouting “Nazis! Nazis!” at the tops of our lungs, we are crying wolf in the general direction of our very own future. We are comparing everyone we don’t like to the genocidal machinations of a madman who hoped to eradicate an entire race.
