Ted Cruz makes stunning statement on Portland Antifa attacks, accuses city’s mayor

Cruz wasn’t the only one advocating for disciplinary action against Wheeler either.

The despicable reality of America’s political upheaval has morphed into something far more sinister this weekend, after reports out of Portland throw the city’s mayor under the bus.

Antifa, the scourge of incivility in the United States, took to the streets of Oregon’s capitol over the course of the last two days, wreaking absolute and unadulterated havoc.  Their “protest” was little more than an excuse to confront the “Proud Boys”; villainous scum in their own right.  When the two groups met, chaos ensued.

Amid the violence, the story of Andy Ngo emerged.  Ngo, a conservative journalist, was brutally attacked by Antifa mobs, with his injuries sending him to the emergency room.

Where were the police in all of this?  That’s the question that Senator Ted Cruz is asking amid rumors that Portland’s mayor ordered the authorities to stand down, allowing the violence to escalate.

Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler should be investigated by federal law enforcement officials following his handling of the protests in his city this weekend that saw a conservative writer purportedly attacked by members of Antifa, Sen. Ted Cruz said.

The comments from the Texas Republican come as a video is circulating on the internet purportedly showing editor Andy Ngo being pelted with eggs, milkshakes and other objects on Saturday in Oregon’s largest city. At least three people were arrested and several others were reported injured there throughout the day during a series of demonstrations, as members of Antifa and other leftist groups clashed with members of the far-right Proud Boys and conservatives, police said.

“To federal law enforcement: investigate & bring legal action against a Mayor who has, for political reasons, ordered his police officers to let citizens be attacked by domestic terrorists,” Cruz tweeted alongside a story recapping the incident surrounding Ngo.

Cruz wasn’t the only one advocating for disciplinary action against Wheeler either.
