Tiger Woods is Getting a Presidential Medal of Freedom, Infuriating Liberal Social Media Users

Twitter was set ablaze by the news of Woods’ incoming honor…but not in the gracious way one would have hoped.

With his latest Mastes victory, Tiger Woods has cemented himself as one of, if not the greatest golfer of the modern era.

Heck, maybe even all time.

Woods achieved victory at The Masters in dramatic fashion, of course, having been sidelined with injuries and plagued by salacious scandals over the course of the last several years.  The trappings of the celebrity life looked to have forever tarnished the American golfer’s game, after a period of legal and litigious issues culminated in some none-too-flattering bits of Woods’ personality becoming public knowledge.

Through all of this, however, the aging golfer persevered.

Now, as President Trump gets set to honor Tiger with a Presidential Medal of Freedom, the internet is in an uproar.  (This should be no surprise, given how often social media seems to exist for the sole purpose of trashing anything and everything that Donald Trump does).

Trump made the announcement last month he would honor Woods with the medal “because of his incredible success [and] comeback in sports, and more importantly, life.”

But the honor was quickly criticized by some as merely an opportunity for Trump to pay tribute to a business partner. It was pointed out last week that Woods was reported in 2018 to be a business partner with the Trump Organization.

Twitter played host to a number of particularly salty takes on the subject.

From the author of a book about Donald Trump’s alleged cheating in golf:

Some were furious over the high honor being given to Woods at all, given his past record of scandal.

And still, others found ways to turn the attention towards Colin Kaepernick.

Of course, there were some race-baiting fantasies to be seen as well:

America, I hate to say it, but we have more important things to worry about right now.  Let Tiger have his medal, and let’s get back to figuring out to how protect the 2020 election from Russian meddling.
