Trump Triggers Democrats with Executive Order on Immigration During Virus Crisis

The reaction was nearly immediate.

President Trump’s views on immigration have long served as a flashpoint for the liberal left, despite a large swath of the Democratic Party having been videotaped just years ago speaking out in favor of many of the same things that the Commander in Chief wishes for today.  This is likely all a part of the pedantic “resistance” to Trump, in which any single thing he says, does, or believes becomes instantly wrong.

The immigration issue became a huge part of the conversation during Trump’s 2016 election, when the left ratcheted up the political rhetoric by declaring the idea of a border wall to be “racist”.  Again, this is something that Democrats had been in favor of in the past, but must now oppose on account of the fact that it was aligned with Donald Trump’s beliefs.

This “resistance” only fueled Trump’s base, however, who felt as though they would need to amplify their unity to keep up.  Now the nation is mired in a vitriolic bubble that will almost certainly explode as we try to escape.

Now, in the midst of a crisis in which we must be mindful of who we find ourselves sharing space with, President Trump is again infuriating the Democrats with an executive order on the subject of immigration.

President Trump announced late Monday he will soon sign an executive order “to temporarily suspend immigration into the United States,” in what appeared to be a drastic escalation of his efforts to fight the coronavirus pandemic and boost the economy.

The declaration came hours after U.S. equity markets plunged, with oil prices turning negative for the first time in history. Also on Monday, three states — Georgia, Tennessee, and South Carolina — revealed plans to begin reopening some businesses.

“In light of the attack from the Invisible Enemy, as well as the need to protect the jobs of our GREAT American Citizens, I will be signing an Executive Order to temporarily suspend immigration into the United States!” the president tweeted.

The reaction came swiftly on Twitter.

What many are forgetting, however, is that this is precisely why President Trump was elected in the first place, and his base is going to rally around these results.
