This week marked a low point for America in 2020, as Kenosha, Wisconsin devolved into what could become known as the start of the second Civil War if we aren’t careful.
During protests sparked by an officer-involved shooting earlier in the week, a 17 year old boy drove from Illinois to Kenosha with an AR-15, hoping to help secure private property according to reports. Soon, this young man would kill 2 and maim another before casually strolling back past police lines. He was arrested the next day on his way back into Illinois.
The moment was unbearable for many Americans, and it demonstrated a great deal about why our nation is in the predicament that it is in at the current moment.
Fox News host Tucker Carlson’s take on the subject drew a great deal of criticism.

He said the chaos “has reached its inevitable and bloody conclusion” as he talked about the three people who were shot — two of whom died — during riots. He showed footage from the riots and particularly the footage showing Daily Caller reporter Richie McGinniss running over to help someone who was shot.
17-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse has been arrested and charged with first-degree intentional homicide.
Carlson briefly reviewed the scene of the shooting and said, “So what does that amount to? We’re unsure, a court will decide whether what you just saw qualifies as self-defense. We don’t have more details. We do know why it all happened, though. Kenosha has devolved into anarchy because the authorities in charge of the city abandoned it.”
And that’s not all:
“People in charge from the governor of Wisconsin on down refused to enforce the law. They stood back and watched Kenosha burn. So are we really surprised this looting and arson accelerated to murder? How shocked are we that 17-year-olds with rifles decided they had to maintain order when no one else would? Everyone can see what was happening in Kenosha. It was getting crazier by the hour… ‘Kill the police, death to America.’ That’s not Iran, it’s Wisconsin. It could have been a dozen other places in the country. The violence has been building unabated for three months now. Every day the mob becomes more radical.”
Twitter exploded at the comments, furious that Carlson was appearing to suggest that Rittenhouse’s presence was somehow more sane than the protests themselves.
We must remember that Carlson, like so many others, are paid by their mainstream network bosses to say incredulous things that help drive ratings, and our outrage and attention is the currency that pads their coffers.
