VIDEO: As Protests Turn Violent, Residents of Kenosha Fire Warning Shots

Kenosha, Wisconsin looked at time like a war zone this week, and it had residents predictably rattled.

The quiet midwestern city was rocked by a police-involved shooting that saw a black father shot seven times in that back at point blank range as he refused police orders.  Given the current racial climate in America, it was not surprising that large and fervent protests sprung up in its wake, and, unfortunately, it wasn’t all that surprising when agitators pushed those protests into violent riots overnight.

Residents of the city, afraid that the uglier aspects of the demonstrations could spill over into their neighborhoods, fired warning shots to let the rioters know that they meant business.

Shortly after midnight, a group of demonstrators got in their cars and traveled to a residential neighborhood where they parked in a grassy area across from a row of houses. As they began exiting their vehicles, a homeowner emerged from his house and began firing warning shots at the rioters.

The would-be rioters began to flee as the man fired several more shots. In another incident, a group of rioters attacked and burned several local businesses in an area near a residential neighborhood. As the rioters moved through the area, several shots  rang out from a man who appeared to be a business owner.

Video of the incident was unnerving, to say the least.

Jacob Blake, the man injured in the shooting, is currently paralyzed from the waist down, but is said to be in stable condition at a nearby hospital.
