VIDEO: Mask Argument Sees Pro-Trump Activist Tossed Off American Airlines Flight

This certainly won’t be the last time that an incident such as this goes viral.

With much of the world bracing for the resurgence of the highly contagious coronavirus in the coming weeks, tensions are running high as it pertains to the use of face masks.

For some, the idea of being “forced” to wear a mask is appalling.  This is a free nation, after all, and many of us believe that this means that we can take whatever risks we wish with our bodies.  (Heck, the ultra-Libertarians have even pushed to have all drugs legalized, for an example).

On the other side of the argument is the narrative that the masks do little to protect the wearer, and are intended to prevent unwitting and asymptomatic carriers from unintentionally spreading this highly contagious illness whose incubation period appears to last anywhere between 5 and 14 days.

This dichotomy came to a head this week as a pro-Trump activist was removed from an American Airlines flight for his refusal to don a facial covering, in an incident that was caught on camera.

Pro-Trump activist Brandon Straka was removed from an American Airlines flight for refusing to wear a mask in an incident caught on video by New York Times reporter Astead Herndon on Wednesday.

The ejection on a flight from New York’s LaGuardia Airport to Dallas Fort-Worth occurred Wednesday morning and was recorded by Herndon, who serves as a Times national political reporter and CNN political analyst.

The video immediately began to make the rounds on social media.

Straka’s argument with the flight attendant was premised on the idea that there is no law requiring that he wear a mask.

American Airlines, along with other mandatory-mask companies such as CostCo, have maintained that they have the right to refuse service to those who are unwilling to follow their guidelines.
