CNN seems very delighted to be back playing the role of a gushing fanboy to an administration whose policies tend to line up better with those of their on-air talent.
In fact, they’ve already resorted to simply dismissing some of the less friendly narratives of the day with blatant, smothering adoration. Take Wolf Blitzer, for example.
During an interview with Surgeon General nominee Dr. Vivek Murthy on Thursday’s broadcast of CNN’s “Situation Room,” host Wolf Blitzer said it is “encouraging” that the Biden administration, is “wearing masks. They’re showing the American public you’ve got to do this.”
[…] he stated, “[W]hat’s encouraging is, right now, from the president on down, they’re wearing masks. They’re showing the American public you’ve got to do this. And you know, you can’t pretend it doesn’t exist.”
There was only one problem…
Joe Biden’s team said there are “bigger issues to worry about” after the president was briefly seen without a mask at the Lincoln Memorial after signing an executive order mandating the wearing of them on federal grounds.
Biden was seen not covering his face while giving an address to the public at the foot of the memorial in Washington D.C. with his family on Wednesday, January 20.
The president went without a mask for the address just hours after he signed a mandate requiring masks on federal property as well as interstate travelers in order to help stop the spread of coronavirus.
What was that line about “leading by example” that Biden used in his inauguration speech?
